Barrel nipples supplied from stock in Dubai

We hold barrel nipples, close nipples, running nipples, hex nipples and swage nipples in galvanised, black mild steel and stainless 304 and 316, from 1/8” through 6”, in both BSP and NPT thread forms.

Nipples are the component nobody plans for and everybody needs. A run is measured, the fittings are ordered, and then the last 60mm between a valve and an elbow turns out to need a specific length in a specific thread — which is exactly the item that stops a job for a day. We keep the range deep for that reason.

Types we hold

Barrel nipples — a short length of pipe threaded at both ends, in standard lengths from close up to 150mm and beyond.

Close nipples — threaded end to end with no plain barrel, for components that must sit back to back.

Running nipples — a long thread at one end so a backnut and socket can be run right on, which is how you make up a joint in a fixed run that cannot be turned.

Hex nipples — a hexagonal centre section so a wrench can grip without damaging the thread.

Swage nipples — concentric and eccentric, reducing from one bore to a smaller one in a single piece, to MSS SP-95 in A105 and F316.

Materials and threads

Galvanised to BS 1387 for water, outdoor and firefighting service. Black mild steel for gas, oil and dry indoor work. Stainless 304 and 316 in SCH 40 and SCH 80 for corrosive and coastal duty. BSP to ISO 7 and NPT to ASME B1.20.1 are both stocked — tell us which the existing pipework uses.

Cut to length

Beyond the standard lengths we cut and thread barrel nipples to order in GI and mild steel from stock pipe, usually the same or next working day. Give us the bore, the overall length and the thread form.

Who buys nipples from us

Plumbing and firefighting contractors. Compressed air and workshop services teams. Instrumentation fitters making up small-bore. Maintenance crews who need exactly one odd length today.

What to specify when requesting a quote

Nominal bore, overall length, material, thread form — BSP or NPT — and the type: barrel, close, running, hex or swage. For swage nipples give both bores and say concentric or eccentric.

Common Questions

Barrel Nipples — frequently asked

What is a close nipple?
A close nipple is threaded along its entire length with no plain barrel in the middle, giving the shortest possible threaded connection between two fittings. It is used where two components must sit back to back with no gap.
What is the difference between a running nipple and a barrel nipple?
A running nipple has a long thread at one end, allowing a backnut and socket to be run fully onto it so a joint can be made up in a fixed run that cannot be rotated. A standard barrel nipple has equal short threads at both ends.
Do you cut nipples to a specific length?
Yes. Beyond the standard lengths we cut and thread barrel nipples to length in GI and mild steel from stock pipe. Give us the nominal bore, the overall length and the thread form and we will confirm the same or next working day.
Are stainless nipples available in 316?
Yes, in both 304 and 316, in SCH 40 and SCH 80, NPT threaded as standard. For corrosive service or coastal installation, specify 316 — the price difference is small against the cost of replacing a failed small-bore connection.
What is a swage nipple used for?
A swage nipple reduces from one bore to a smaller one in a single component, avoiding a reducing coupling plus a nipple. Concentric keeps the centreline; eccentric keeps one side flat so a horizontal line can drain. Both are held in A105 and F316.
