Camlock couplings supplied from stock in Dubai
We hold cam-and-groove (camlock) couplings in types A, B, C, D, E, F, DC and DP, in aluminium, stainless 316, brass and polypropylene, from 1/2” through 6”, plus Storz firefighting couplings and hammer unions.
A camlock exists for one reason: to connect and disconnect a hose in seconds, repeatedly, without tools. Tanker discharge, site water, fuel transfer, washdown, dewatering — anywhere a line is made and broken daily.
The types, plainly
Type A — male adaptor × female thread. Type B — female coupler × male thread. Type C — female coupler × hose shank. Type D — female coupler × female thread. Type E — male adaptor × hose shank. Type F — male adaptor × male thread. DC is the dust cap that closes a male adaptor; DP is the dust plug that closes a female coupler.
In practice most hose assemblies are a C on one end and an E on the other, with a DC and DP to keep the dirt out when they are uncoupled.
Materials
Aluminium — the general-purpose default for water, fuel and dry bulk, light and economical. Stainless 316 for corrosive media, food and beverage service, and coastal exposure where aluminium pits. Brass for certain fuel and gas duty. Polypropylene for aggressive chemicals that attack metal.
Gaskets
Buna-N (nitrile) is standard and covers water, oil and fuel. EPDM, Viton and PTFE are available where the medium demands it. Gaskets are the wear part, so we hold them as spares — a coupling that weeps usually needs a two-dirham seal, not a new fitting.
Safety on pressurised lines
Cam arms can be knocked open under pressure. On any pressurised service, fit safety clips or locking pins. For higher pressure air, a screwed or safety-locking coupling is the correct choice rather than a standard camlock.
Storz and hammer unions
Aluminium Storz instantaneous couplings to DIN 14301 from 1” to 4” for firefighting, with blank caps and threaded adaptors. Hammer unions in carbon steel for higher pressure oilfield and pumping service.
What to specify when requesting a quote
Coupling type (A to F, DC, DP), nominal size, material, thread form where threaded — BSP or NPT — gasket material, and the medium and working pressure.
Common Questions
Camlock Couplings — frequently asked
- What do camlock types A to F mean?
- They describe the end configurations. A is a male adaptor with female thread, B a female coupler with male thread, C a female coupler with hose shank, D a female coupler with female thread, E a male adaptor with hose shank, F a male adaptor with male thread. DC and DP are the dust cap and dust plug.
- Which material should I choose?
- Aluminium is the economical general-purpose choice for water, fuel and dry bulk. Stainless 316 is for corrosive media, food service and coastal exposure. Brass suits some fuel and gas duty. Polypropylene is for aggressive chemicals where metal would corrode.
- Are camlock couplings suitable for compressed air?
- They are widely used on low pressure air, but a cam-and-groove coupling can release under pressure if the arms are knocked, so safety clips or pins should be fitted. For higher pressure air, a screwed or safety-locking coupling is the safer choice.
- What gasket comes with a camlock coupling?
- Buna-N (nitrile) is the standard gasket and handles water, oil and fuel. EPDM, Viton and PTFE gaskets are available where the medium requires them. Replacement gaskets are held as spares, since that is the part that wears.
- Do you supply Storz couplings for firefighting?
- Yes. Aluminium Storz instantaneous couplings to DIN 14301 are held from 1" to 4", along with blank caps and adaptors to threaded connections.
