Stainless steel pipe supplied from stock in the UAE
We hold stainless pipe and tube to ASTM A312 in TP304, TP304L, TP316 and TP316L, seamless and welded, from 1/2” through 12” in SCH 10S, 40S and 80S, alongside instrument tube to A269 and sanitary tube to A270.
Stainless is bought for one of three reasons: the medium attacks carbon steel, the process demands a hygienic surface, or the installation sits in coastal air that will eat anything else. All three are common here, which is why we hold it as a full range rather than a token line.
Grades
TP304 / TP304L is the general-purpose austenitic grade for indoor and non-chloride service.
TP316 / TP316L adds molybdenum and resists chloride pitting — the specific failure mode that destroys 304 in Gulf coastal conditions. For seawater, brine, chlorinated water or exposed coastal installation, 316 is not an upgrade, it is the correct specification.
The L grades are low carbon and are specified where the pipe will be welded and then exposed to a corrosive medium.
Duplex 2205 to ASTM A790 is held in smaller bores for high-strength chloride service.
Pipe, tube and the difference
Pipe is sized by nominal bore and schedule to ASME B36.19 and is what you connect with buttweld fittings and flanges.
Tube is sized by actual outside diameter and wall, and is what instrument fitters and hygienic process work use — A269 seamless instrument tube from 1/8” to 1”, and A270 polished sanitary tube where internal finish is specified.
Certification and traceability
Grade substitution in stainless is invisible to the eye and expensive to discover later. We confirm what certification a batch carries before you order, and we keep the grades physically separated in the racking.

What to specify when requesting a quote
Nominal size and schedule for pipe, or outside diameter and wall for tube. The exact grade, seamless or welded, the lengths required, any surface finish specification, and whether mill certificates are needed.
Common Questions
Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes — frequently asked
- What is the difference between SCH 10S and SCH 40S?
- They are wall thicknesses in the stainless schedule series to ASME B36.19. SCH 10S is thinner and is widely used for low pressure and drainage duty; SCH 40S is the general working wall. Stainless runs thinner than carbon steel because it needs no corrosion allowance.
- Should I use 304 or 316 pipe in the UAE?
- For anything exposed to coastal air, seawater, brine or chlorinated water, specify 316. The molybdenum content resists chloride pitting, which is the failure mode that ruins 304 in this climate. Indoors and away from chlorides, 304 is usually sufficient and costs less.
- Do you supply sanitary grade tube?
- Yes. ASTM A270 TP316L polished tube is supplied for food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical work, where internal surface finish is part of the specification. Tell us the required Ra finish and we will confirm availability.
- Can you supply stainless pipe with mill certificates?
- Yes. Stainless is normally bought on certification, and we confirm what documentation the batch carries before you order. Traceability matters more here than on carbon steel, because grade substitution is not visible to the eye.
- Do you hold duplex pipe?
- Duplex 2205 to ASTM A790 is held in the smaller bores and sourced above that. It is specified where both high strength and chloride resistance are required, typically on desalination and offshore work.
